Then, one of them began to bite Viento. Illusion or not, while it was not lethal nor could it cause REAL injury, the shock of the attack would still convince Viento's mind to believe that he was actually being bitten by a snake. Indeed, as far as Viento's mind would be concerned, Ewan hadn't created an illusion, he had made real snakes. Or at least that's how it affected most minds.
However, the effort of doing this, was giving Viento an advantage in the Beam 'O war, and his wind attack was forcing back Ewan's concussive blast.

Viento winced, using a blast of energy to knock the snakes away. It was getting hard to concentrate on what he was doing.

And Ewan took advantage of this, and immediately pressed with full strength of his spell, beginnning to force back Viento's attack.

Unlikely. At this point, Ewan's attack had gained enough momentum and force that Viento's attack would likely not have enough force to repel or defend against it.

If he did so, he'd end up running headlong into the wave of concussive force, which would feel a lot like running into a thirty foot thick brick wall that was hurtling at you at the speed of a fast car on the highway.
